Gov. Healey signs Rep. Hogan’s bill to criminalize sexual assault by fraud of a medical professional

Rep. Hogan was honored to join Governor Healey and LG Driscoll at the ceremonial signing of H.4350, An Act criminalizing sexual assault by fraud of a medical professional. This legislation protects vulnerable individuals by ensuring that Massachusetts can prosecute health care professionals and clergy members who influence patients or clients to engage in sexual activity under the guise of treatment or counseling.

Rep. Hogan is grateful to Speaker Mariano, HWM Chair Michlewitz, House Judiciary Chair Day and her colleagues in the Legislature, as well as Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan for being our steadfast partner in this effort. She is also grateful to the many brave survivors – from the athletes in the headlines to hopeful parents and vulnerable patients – all of whom have been a catalyst in getting the bill over the finish line.

Rep. Hogan enjoyed speaking with Boston25’s Kerry Kavanaugh after the bill signing. Kerry’s extensive coverage has helped keep a spotlight on this issue. Watch the Boston25 interview here.
