This summer, Rep. Hogan’s office threw open the doors of the State House to local high schoolers, and students from Hudson and Stow took us up on it, commuting into Boston for a week to see state government up close. They shadowed the daily work of the legislature and explored the wide range of public service careers Massachusetts has to offer. Our office’s “Week on Beacon Hill” program gives younger students a front-row seat to how government actually works. And it never fails to surprise them: how much gets done, how collegially members from both parties tackle the issues of the day, and how much of a difference one person can make for their community and their Commonwealth. Great lessons to learn early — and ones we hope stick with them for years to come.
